Mosquito Control

The risk of West Nile Virus (WNv) infection is rated at level 1(Low Risk). Culex tarsalis mosquitoes, the local vector of WNv have been observed in traps in all areas of Laramie. WNv has been detected in samples of mosquitoes tested on August 11.  Crews are applying biological larvacide targeted to control vector mosquitoes to wetland areas in and around Laramie. Mosquito trapping to determine population abundance and to test directly for West Nile virus in the mosquito population is conducted five days a week. Thresholds of adult mosquitoes are evaluated daily and fogging operations are ongoing, as needed in all areas of Laramie. Check the hotline page or call 721-5056 to check the schedule.
