Holiday Donation Campaigns

Every year throughout the Laramie community individuals and families struggle to make ends meet, but they are still filled with hope for a beautiful holiday morning. This year, the City of Laramie invites you to partner with any one (or more) of our community holiday donation campaigns. Each of the following programs can help provide significant support to our community in this most challenging year when the need to help bring relief and joy to Laramie's children and families is especially large.

Shop with a Cop (Laramie Police Department)

  • This year, the Laramie Police Department has partnered with the UW Police, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Albany County Sheriff's Office, and Albany County School District to host their firstShop with a Copprogram. Students from kindergarten through 5th grade will be nominated by representatives from each school who they believe would benefit most from the program. Selected students will receive a $100 Walmart gift card they can use to purchase anything they choose.
  • This program is funded by donations accepted from community members and businesses. All donations will go through the Police Department Foundation, a 501(3)(c) charitable organization. Any leftover monies will be donated back to the school district to help pay for school lunches. and a small portion will be retained in a designated account to help kickstart next year's program.
  • To Donate:  Donations can be mailed to: Laramie Police Department Foundation PO Box 1734 Laramie, WY 82073 You can also donate via PayPal on-line at https://www.lpdfoundation.org/ . Following the “Support Us” link.

Adopt-A-Family (Laramie Fire Department)

  • Each Laramie Fire Station will work with Albany County School District 1 to adopt an entire family. Once all gifts have been purchased, the selected families will go to their assigned fire station to pick up the gifts. Then, depending on the current COVID-19 Orders, families will tour the station and meet the firefighters. "Donating is great, but we really want to meet the families we donate to and meet the kids. That's the best part," Firefighter Chase Bridgmon shares.

Laramie Interfaith

  • Laramie Interfaith has, for the past 35 years, served as a dynamic and vital local nonprofit, distributing more than 1,000 pounds of food every day and providing financial assistance to more than 40 families each month. Interfaith's primary focus is to work alongside Albany County residents to prevent and alleviate homelessness and food insecurity while helping motivated families achieve self-sustainability. To that end, Laramie Interfaith provides holistic support ranging from rental assistance, specialized budget training, food, and transportation. In September 2020, Laramie's City Council passed a resolution that created a partnership between the City and Interfaith to provide financial assistance for utilities and other critical services for residents in need.

COVID-19 Relief Fund

  • During these unprecedented times, our community has banded together in solidarity to support our friends, neighbors, and small businesses. The City of Laramie responded to this call for assistance by launching a community-powered donation program for ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts in our community. All donations will be used to support micro grants to small businesses, and secondly, to meet other unmet needs in our community.
Together we can make a difference

Thank you, Laramie, for your generosity and participation in these community holiday donation campaigns, and for all the ways you are helping our community to stay safe, healthy and resilient!
