Downtown Walk Bridge Stairs to Close During Winter Events

Laramie, Wyoming – The Parks & Recreation Department will be closing the downtown walk bridge stairs during winter events beginning November 16, 2018.

The stairs will be closed utilizing a chain and sign (pictured at right) in preparation of upcoming winter events.  Staff and residents have been injured on these stairs during winter events due falls related to slick stair treads.  The Parks & Recreation Department does remove snow as quickly as possible to eliminate danger however, the steel stair treads still pose risk due to ice buildup and an inability to utilize chemicals for deicing.  Staff will reopen the walk bridge stairs as weather allows.

The walk bridge remains open through the utilization of the ramps located on both the west and east sides.
