Mosquito Control

The risk of West Nile Virus (WNv) infection is rated at level 1(Low Risk). Mosquito operations are nearing the end of the control season. Crews continue to apply  biological larvacide to wetland areas in and around Laramie targeted to control vector mosquitoes. Adult mosquito fogging has concluded for the season due to low mosquito numbers in adult surveillance traps and cooler fall temperatures. Surveillance crews are testing mosquitos for West Nile Virus.  Currently one human case of WNv has been reported by Wyoming Dept. of Health, one mosquito pool and 4 bird samples have also tested positive for WNv in Albany County.
