[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: City of Laramie Fire Dept., Fire Prevention: Open Fires

Clarification regarding Charcoal Grills and Other Open Fires:

Charcoal grills will be allowed within the city limits if the grills are being used on improved land and constantly attended. The recreational fires/fire pits/chimneas will still require special permitting prior to use. Grills in excess of 3 feet in diameter will require special permitting.

Charcoal and Wood Pellet Smokers

• At least 10’ from any structure.
• At least one method of extinguishment. (Garden hose, extinguisher, etc.)
• Continuous attendance by responsible adult until extinguished.
• Use on improved land only. Improved land is irrigated or maintained lawn, non- combustible surfaces, concrete, driveways, asphalt, etc.
• Grill diameter shall not exceed 3 feet.
