LARAMIE, WY – Recent population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau and the State of Wyoming Economic Analysis Division show that Laramie continues to grow, posting one of the highest population growth rates among cities in the state. From July 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024, Laramie added 516 new residents, marking a 1.6% increase—the second-highest percentage growth among all Wyoming communities with over 2,000 people.
This growth showcases Laramie’s position not only as a vibrant university town but also as a desirable destination for families, students, entrepreneurs, and professionals seeking a high quality of life in the United States’ most populated mountain town. Since the 2020 Census, Laramie has added 1,544 residents, reflecting a 4.9% total growth—a strong upward trend following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The growth numbers shown in this report only support what Laramie citizens already know; it is a great place to live, go to school, start a business, and put down roots," says Derek Teini, Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Laramie.
