Laramie, Wyoming - The City Parks Department will be applying SpeedZone® herbicide to Harbon Park on June 6th, 2025, due to an increasing infestation of broad-leaf weeds that could impact surrounding lawns and undeveloped areas.
The Parks Department has not used herbicide to control weeds in Harbon Park since 2017 due to its designation as a chemical-free park. Unfortunately, the infestation of broad-leaf weeds requires emergency treatment to protect the turf and surrounding properties. SpeedZone® herbicide will be applied at the minimum label rate per product specifications, the label indicates that the chemical is not detectable after 14 days of application and is safe for pets and humans within 6 hours. Future treatments may be needed and notices both through media sources and warning signs at the treated location will be utilized to alert the public of these treatments. The park will be returned to chemical-free status once the weed growth is under control.
